I am way behind on this, but I recently acquired a copy of the New World
Relampagos CD. This is a tribute to Spain's #1 instrumental band, Los
Relampagos, from the 60's, and features an all star cast of Dusty Watson,
Sam Bolle, Ivan Pongracic, and about 1/2 dozen more people. Wow is this
cool! It's not too surfy, but I think list members will appreciate this a
lot. Lots of delicate melodies, blazing drums, echo-y Euro guitar, and lots
of organ! If you like the Shadows and Euro-Instros, you will be right at
home, but they definitely had their own sound happening. It's very
refreshing and different, just very well done!
