Post your personal surf gear setup ...

twangstring - 13 Nov 2001 18:51:22

This oughta be fun, and give us all an insight into what's being used
and played these dayze.
Surf genre - I'm not at all into retro surf but prefer new millennia
tunes ... "The Surf Kings" are my gods of surf (and "Slacktone" are
right up there, too).
Surf venue - Currently, solo digital recordings and local get-
together jams with buds; historically, gigged full time with local
East Coast bands for about 11 years, from about '64 on. Oh, and yes,
I ocean wave surf ... I'm NO hot shot pro, just a long time wave
chaser that loves the gliiiide, my surf bio interview's up on Bud's
website -
Guitars - custom Strat clones - 1-11/16"+ corian or bone nut widths,
soft "V" necks, locking tuners, 12" board radius, twin post trems,
noiseless L280, L290 and L490 Bill Lawrence pups. I've got yet
another Musiclander hybrid clone on the assembly table and it'll get
set like my Strats.
FX - Visual Sound Liquid H2O chorus/delay, Nobels ODR-1 overdrive,
tube spring reverb (onboard the combo) - dat's it.
Amps - Carvin Nomad (EL84 based, 50 watts, 1x12" Celestion V30, tube
spring reverb. I also have a stock '73 Musicmaster and expect
another '73 modded MM due in next week - I wanna run these in
parallel, one dry and one with FX, should be interesting.
What's your story, surf Dude?
