I had the opportunity lately to talk to a lawyer in the music industry and had
the same
question for him. He said it's a bit "stickier" than copyrighting a song. The
best way
(without a lawyer) is to go to the Federal Registry online and look for the
forms for a
trademark. The only real guarantee is to go throught the Federal Registry,
websites
can claim a lot, but to really hold up in court, they are not a guarantee.
Bottomline, "it's a pain in the arse".
I was a bit daunted after talking to him and hiring a lawyer is out of the
question for
me. Arggghhhhh....paperwork!
Good luck!
Dale
