Squire vs. Fender Cyclone

poseidonsurfband - 11 Jul 2004 18:06:50

Hey, I just got here. Cowabungans told me this is the place to post
the following,,,,,,
I checked out both the Fender and Squire sites for the Cyclone. the
only difference I could see was the width of the neck differed by 1
mm(42mm v.s 43mm). I couldn't get both windows open from both sites
to get an accurate side-by side,,,,but there seems to be no
difference,,,same pickups, same wood,,,,,,
Would a Cyclone be an ample surf guitar? Why shouldn't I just get a
Squire? Their M-77 for like 250.00 is a great guitar. No bull. I
even helped a new student get an Affinity(made in Indonesia) at pawn
shop for near nothing,,,that seemed to be more solid, stayed in tune
(how the royal heck this guitar does vs. my 1990 American Strat,,,)
and seemed more solid than the Afinities at Guitar Center. What's up
with that?????
I had a student once drop some nice TexMex pickups(he got for free
in a poker game!)in his Mexican strat. With your eyes closed, ya
wouldn't know you weren't playing an American.....
Should I really go get a Jag, Stang, or JazzMaster instead? Aren't
they kinda in the same family?
Suggestions on Mosrite copies?
Thoughts?
