Hi,
Well, if it's a price you can't resist, then why not.
Broken necks can brake again, even when repaired/broken before.
I fixed a broken headstock on a 60ties Framus and it still works fine
and keeps it's tune very well.
Although a headstock has less string tension then a neck.
I know the guitar repairman of my local guitar shop pretty well, I saw
him repairing necks numerous times. (Mostly Gibson Les Paul and Epiphone
guitar necks) Although once the neck is boken completely on the
fretboard, repair is almost impossible. He once had a guy over who
bought a 68 Jazzbass on which the neck had broken at the 2nd fret, all
the way thru. When he bought the bass, nothing was visible, perfectly
repaired etc, but when he strated playing, the neck collapsed. It
couldn't be repared. Luckily for him the guitar shop owner had a 63
Jazzbass neck for sale, so that went on the bass.
Just to say that screwed on necks can always be replaced, glued on or
neck thru's are harder....

hello,
has anyone special experiences with repaired necks?
what to consider when to buy a guitar for a price you cant resist due to
a crack
on the neck. even when "well done" repaired. is it like "once broken,
always
will", or does it not affect the sound quality or playability that much?
thanks,
madluca
