I don't have a Hot Rod Deluxe, but I do have a Hot Rod DeVille, which may be
a close cousin. I don't know what the real differences are between the two.
Mine is 2x12" and 60 Watts. The reverb is probably not tube, but it is still
pretty good. I always set mine at 12 (max) before I got a reverb unit and it
sounded pretty good. But the reverb tank rules, hands down. This amp can be
very loud and clean, and it works well I think for surf. I also have a
Jaguar.
Now my brother has a Blues Deluxe, which may be closer to the Hot Rod Deluxe
(dunno for sure). Its the one with the tan tolex covering and brown grill
cloth. The reverb on that is not as strong as the Hot Rod DeVille, and it is
much noiser for some reason.
