Heya,
Yeah there are tons of versions of this Earl Hagen classic. A couple
of choice ones are the King Curtis version --a small combo with
Curtis' killer sax, Lounge Lizards -- loose and scrappy and a neat
small band version by Shadowy Men from a Shadowy Planet which of
course they named something else (which unfortunately doesn't come to
mind. Also worth listening to is the Spike Jones big band version
which is available in an UltraLounge collection. The Ventures version
your talking about is around (you might be able to find it on e-music)
but frankly didin't knock me out. The best thing I can say about it is
that its guitar friendly--in the people's key of E.
