It is the other way round. Why are Piramyds expensive in the US?
Politics and economics
It's European steel and there are heavy taxes on foreign steel in the US.

I wonder why it is that the Pyramids are cheaper than the D'Addario's in the
U.K. I would try the Pyramids too if they were cheaper than D'Addarios.

In europe you get the Pyramids for 10 euros, against 15 for a set of
d'addario's.
still.... HUGE differnce in tone on my guitar.

nickel. Yes I know you say they last longer. But I get very good life
out of my D'Addario's. I use clean hands and Finger-ease regularly
which reduces friction thus keeping the strings purdy clean. So the
story is that Pyramid strings are made the way guitar strings used to
be made. I've heard old records made on Jazzmasters and I've heard
new records made on Jazzmasters and I don't hear a world of
difference. Many of the new guitar tones are as good and better than
the old guitar tones and I don't beleive everyone is using Pyramid
strings on the new records
