Phil,
The CIJS have fatter necks...atleast the ones I've played. Most of
the US AVs in my opinion have thinner necks. All of the early 60s
Jazzmasters I have played had beefier necks like the CIJs.

the strings so pop out of the bridge yet but I will be putting on a
buzz-stop anyway along with heavier strings. There isn't much buzz
right now but I want the better sustain provided by the buzz stop
and the assurance that the strings won't leave the saddles.
