RE: [SurfGuitar101] Re: PRACTICE PAIN and RSI

-=Brad Davis=- (tammibrad) - 25 Feb 2004 14:37:08

My teacher used to preach 'use only your wrist', but for me, using the wrist
+ some arm works best for tremolo picking..not that I'm great at it..my
right hand has always been my weakest link..probably 'cause I'm a lefty
playing right-hand guitar.but my teacher is too and he's a tremolo monster
so its probably just a question of practice.
Anyway, it seems like there's no overall consensus as to the 'proper' way to
tremolo pick..I guess its based on individual preference, i.e., what works
for you.
I like to hear what everyone has to say on this as, to me, this is the most
recognizable, definitive (and challenging) technique in playing surf guitar.

Sorry my question led to some toes getting steped on ;-) Thanks for
the suggestions. I tried using my whole arm instead of wrist, and it
does seem to make a big difference.
