this is BAD advice, I like a laugh and this was a funny thread, but...
practice makes perfect, obviously, and i'm all for practicing. and
it's bound to hurt a little in the beginning.
but really.... burning shoulder, elbow and/or wrist are the first
signs of RSI...together with a 'tingling' in your hand/arm/fingers,
if you feel those, put your guitar down and let it be for a couple of
days, The guitarist from dutch surfgreats the Treble Spankers will
never treblespank again because of RSI.
another one to look out for is inflammation of the tendon sheath (I'm
dutch and had to look this up in the dictionary so i don't know if
it's exactly right)... Keith Richards almost lost a finger to this.
(if you have pain in your fingers after playing long and it isn't
gone the next day, go see a doctor)
A dutch survey among professional musicians a while ago showed that
guitarist suffer second most from instruments related injuries.
learning an instrument takes practice, but it also simply takes time.
You cannot become a guitarhero overnight, but you can get seriously
injured trying. just so you know.
