that's just the spring part and won't do much on its
own. I got my reissue fender unit new for about $350
at a guitar store. I believe that one of the
guitarists in Surf Report made his own reverb unit.
Some alternatives that I've heard are the "vintage
Lafayette echo-verb II . It sounds alot like the 70's
Fender reverb tank".. and "Most of the time, answers
to that question include the $175 Little
Lanelei Spring reverb and the $100 Digitech RP100
emulator..." .... all of these I am sure don't sound
that great, but chances are that if you're into Man or
Astro-man and a little into the ventures that you're
not looking for the trad Dick Dale or Astronauts
sound.
I'm sure there are unique alternatives out there that
are cheaper.
My Crate practice amp actually dials in some serious
reverb if I set the high tone control down to 0 and my
low and mid to 1.2 and 4 respectively. Plenty of
spash and much deeper and lower in tone than my
reissue fender outboard unit.
So what kind of reverb sound are you looking for?
