Okay then, here we go,
been playing for some 16 years (30 yrs old now) ... started out at
the local music school on an Aria nylon string accoustic... really
have to thank my teacher at the time Frank Gerritsen (no no no,
another Frank Gerritsen from Holland, can you imagine) who was a
brilliant player, and a brilliant teacher. he saw quickly that the
average starter lessons were not for me, and got me started on blues.
i had lessons from him for 4 years, mostly classical style technique
and fingerpicking, and gave me the best basis i could wish.
after two years or so switched to steel string first, and then
electric. first band when i was 17 (new wave, indy sorta thing ),
then started a 60's style garage rock band at 21... got some local
fame as well, it was fun but nothng spectacular.
along the way i tought myself bass (duh) mediocre drumming (when i
made demo's) and some piano (just cause we have one and my wife
plays) ...
The Apemen got me into surf... they are from around were i live, and
i saw them regularly here, in the same places were we used to play
with the garage rock band...
