Hi Jerry,
I watched E-bay for a long time and managed to buy a brand new Fender
reissue unit in the box with foot pedal for $335 or so. When I was watching
them, thats about how much a used reissue would go for, and it usually
didn't have the foot switch (not a huge loss as it just turns the reverb
off/on...why do you need it off? ha).
After you get it, at minimum replace the 6V6 tube with a 6K6 (this is what
was used in the original circuit). That will make the biggest difference. Go
ahead and replace the rest of the tubes to New Old Stock (NOS) ones if you
like and want to spend another $10-$20. And finally if you are handy with a
soldering iron you can change out a capacitor. See the bookmarks for this
group...Dick Messick has a cool page with instructions on how to do that.
If you don't have the cash right now I have heard that people like the Boss
stomp box (RV-3 or RV-5???). I have also heard some people like this pedal
called the Little Lanilei by Songworks.
