Phillip - keep us posted. While I was doing research on the tremolo problem
for my amp, I found that there are lots of things that can go wrong with
this particular aspect. I was lucky that a tube swap was all I needed. The
bug can go bad, the cathode bypass capacitors in that circuit can go, etc.
There is a guy on the Fender Forum (handle: VintageJon) who sells what he
calls the "surf bug", its basically a heavy duty hand-built version of the
bug (the photo-isolator doo-hickey). If you search on the Fender Forum for
tremolo problems you will find lots of hits; people do all kinds of things
to try and quiet the blackface tremolo ticking. Good luck!
So how do you like the amp other than that? How old is it, and did you get a
cap job done?
BN
PS. Come to think of it, I think that VintageJon guy is from Austin Texas.
He's an amp repair guy, maybe he could help you out! Look for him in the Amp
Repair forum.
