RE: [SurfGuitar101] What PU's would Wronski put on a 62 RI Strat?

dave wronski (stickmandw) - 03 Dec 2003 18:43:14

I have a "Mary Kay" blonde, ash body Strat that has a set of pickups that are
Custom Shop protos of, I think, the '54s. They are possibly Fat Strat Custom
Shop, but they are not over-wound. So if the Fat Strat pick-ups are wound more
than a stock pickup, I got the '54s. They are very sweet sounding. Very open
sound which really helps when you get the flatwound string thing going. But,
very nice with the GHS Burnished roundwound, too.
That guitar was Mike Sullivan's favorite sounding guitar, he once told me.
good luck!

Hey Dave,
What PU's would you put on a 62 RI Strat? I want to use it for Surf
primarily and I bought it with EMG's and a Clapton boost on it.
Considering just restoring it to original specs???
Thanks, rick!
