The D and K series JBLs used a big 4" voice coil with an AlNiCo
magnet in the middle. There is a big cast iron pot and top plate
that covers the back and serves to focus the magnetic field around
the voice coil. They have a beefy, cast aluminum frame. Real serious
looking unit.
