Yes, if you search "strings" on this list you'll hear
all kinds of things, but the general consensus is
flatwounds, the heavier the better. Squiers are
pretty decent budget guitars. You might want to head
over to the Fender Forum
() and visit the
Squier forum to ask some of those guys about the
current Squiers available. I briefly owned a Squier
Stratocaster, but I think that mine was the most
"rock-bottom"; the body was smaller, it didn't hold
tune at all and the soldering and wire for the input
jack kept coming undone/breaking, etc. I'm also not
sure how a cheaper Squier would take very heavy
strings, you'll want to ask.
