Hi,
I tried both the Danelectro Sprig King and the Electro Harmonics Holy
Grail.
I like the latter most. The Holy Grail is very compact and comes with an
Adaptor, no batteries needed.
It has Spring/Hall and Flanger reverb. All sound good to my ears. I
tried one yesterday on a Pro tube Fender twin and the sound was quiet
amazing.
The Spring king is large, about twice the size of the Holy Grail. And it
doesn't come with an AC adaptor, which is a shame as it eats batteries
more quickly then you can say "Danelectro"....It has a spring in it and
when the pedal is kicked via the kick pad you get a spring crash sound,
nice little gem, but a laugh when compared to the real thing.
The spring sound is not bad, but not good either. I found the Holy Grail
to be a bit more defined.
There is also the "Little Lenai Sound Works" reverb pedal. This one
sounds really nice. Hard to find and a bit more expensive. The same
features as the Spring king, but without the silly kick pad and much
smaller. It gives you the opertunity to select the Dwell and mix ratio
as on the real thing.
Then also look for the Premier unit, a real tube spring reverb. I heard
many good things of it!
Ofcourse there is the Fender spring reverb unit. But I would ask Dano of
the Nebulas his opinion on the reissues.
My conclusion is that a Pedal is still far from the real thing. It
merely emulates the sound and it is digital.
My vote goes to the Holy Grail when compared to the Spring King, since
the size and ac adaptor thing and the more verstaile sound and the ease
of use.
Ofcourse this is just my humble opinion and everyone hears differently.
Kind regards,
Jerry S.

You can read the so-so reviews here:
b_Pedal-01.html
I remember someone saying that they disconnected the spring and it still
sounded basically the same.
If your patient, you should be able to pick up a used tube reverb off
ebay for <200

I've heard a bit about this thing recently and was wondering if it's
any good. It almost sounds to good to be true, genuine old school
spring reverb in a funky little pedal.
Problem is my local music shop won't order one unless I'm going to
buy it and want me to pay a deposit up front. Instead they try to
force crappy digital units onto me.
If I could get some positive feedback on the unit then I might go for
it but if it sounds rubbish I won't bother.
Anyone know what it's like?
