I got 0.12 on my Jaguar, which I think is thick enough. Anyway there is
no tonal improvement when using 0.13 (IMHO)
Also bear in mind that you might have to adjust your tussrod a bit,
since the tension of d'Addario chrome flatwounds is a lot more then the
usual roundwounds.
IMHO a roundwound looks thicker then a flatwound, but once you are
playing them, they don't feel that different qua thickness. Flats are
always a bit more stiff, so you have to get used to them, especialy if
you do a lot of bends. But 0.12 is really heavy enough for a Jag. The
low E is a 0.52 which is quiete a thick string.

flatwound chromes. 13 sounds really thick to me, but I seem to get the
impression that you can go a bit thicker with a flatwound. Is this the
case?
