I just listened to Dick Dale, King of the Surf guitar in its entirety and
was amazed at how many back ground vocals, rythm guitars, pianos & horns are
backing him up with those angry drums, ..."WOW," lots of sax & trumphet
solos!
But, the personality and power certinly comes from Dick and the Beast!
Another quick chime I'd like to make is the importance silence makes in
music. If everything is just a wall of sound with out silence to contrast
it, well, you are more likely going to be left with a bad attitude and an
ear ache! smile

I figure the way Dick would tell the story is: Elvis came over to
his house, said something like "No- YOU are the King!" and gave him
the sticker after they discussed how much Dick's music influenced
Elvis! Ha!! Seriously, Dick Dale is GREAT, even if he does stretch
the truth a little bit.... I would give anything to be able to
harness Dick's power for just one song myself.
