Re: [SurfGuitar101] Bass Amps

Richard (errant_jedi) - 01 Aug 2003 02:32:07

For my money all around, it's the Ampeg B100R. It's
solid state, but many people swear they can't tell the
difference. The tube thing does apply...seemingly to
a lesser degree than guitar, though I wouldn't really
know because I've only played through solid state bass
amps.
Anyway, the Ampeg B100R will run you around $500, 100
watts, single 15" speaker, has great vintage tone.
It's loud enough for little gigs too. It's big enough
to not be real easy to tote around, but it's not a
huge hassle. Go ask this question on the bass forum
of the FDP and I promise you have the replies will be
for this combo.
