RE: [SurfGuitar101] Re: what's with "Dual"

Jerry (whipeoutboy63) - 29 Jul 2003 16:56:22

Hi Bill,
If it's close to where you live, go give it a try. For me personally I
like to try gear out.
If you like a the Dual Showman and it feels right while playing get it,
if you don't like it don't buy.
If your 15" cab falls within the speaker load of the Showman, I guess
you can judge the amp on that. But as Brain once wrote, a showman really
comes to live when coupled on a JBL D120 or 130 cab.... I heard it once,
and I must admit it's true. (You don't see a lot of BF Dual Showmans
here in Belgium ;-)
As for the price, I can't comment on that. I paid more for a fully
retubed SF Bandmaster Reverb, You can probably get them for less then
half of that in the U.S. So...
I wouldn't hasitate a second if I could get a BF showman for 500 $, but
I'm on the other end of the ocean and work on 220 V.
If you like it, get it.

Guys,
Thanks so much for all the help and guidance.
The guy offered me $500 (probably plus tax)
I'd probably be willing to take him up on it, assuming it can at
least put out some signal, and would work alright with the single 15"
cab. I just appreciate that cab so much more.
Naturally, I'd still need to track down a cab, make sure it has a
Jensen D130F in it, and I'll probably re-tube it (unless that's been
done recently).
Does this sound like a good deal? Or should I play it cool for a
little longer and see if something pops up?
