RE: [SurfGuitar101] Dave W's New Guitar Idea Photo

dave wronski (stickmandw) - 07 Jul 2003 17:09:47

Yes, the bridge is mounted on top of the pick-guard. It has the same two "cups"
used on Jaguars. So ther are three hole in the pick guard; two for the bridge,
and one for the mute. The pick guard is not shaped the same as a Strat. That's
why there is only two knobs and the switch is in a different place. There's not
as much room as a Strat body cavity would have.
Everything is compacted to accommodate the 24" scale. That's also why there is
only two pick ups. If you cram another pick up in the space available here, the
magnetic fields will conflict, and wimp out the sound.
I would like to try some TV Jones pick ups, or maybe mix and match. But right
now I want to start with two Jaguar pick ups, and go from there. If I was a
running things, I'd make a junker test body I could slip all combonations into,
and the True Path would quickly be found. Maybe that's why guitar players seem
to be so conservative about their equipment-the cost of trial and error.

re: your new Jag-o-caster...
the bridge is mounted on the pickguard (?), or is there a
cutout in the pickguard to accomodate mounting the bridge
directly to the wood?
also, what about pickup #3? will there be a third pickup?
a strat pickup? a jag pickup? a jazzmaster pickup? how
about a Tele neck pickup?
inquiring minds would like to know,
