Delay question

Jerry (whipeoutboy63) - 05 May 2003 11:52:19

Hi,
I got a question regarding delay. While I was gigging this week-end I
noticed that my delay made a difference in tone when put on (this is
great I think) It makes tunes like "War of the satelites" sound better.
But what is the difference with a tape delay (analog or digital) when
compared to a normal delay pedal (I use a cheap Dinasour digital delay)
I ask this because I sam the Danelectro "tape delay" a while ago. Albeit
a digital one, but the add said it was close to a "real tape delay"
(assuming they were talking analog)
I also read about the (famous) Roland Space echo (also a (analog)
delay??)
I saw this being used by "The Revelaires" (one of Belguims leading
"cover" surf bands, it's also being mentioned at MOAM FX list
So what's your general opinion on delay units (surfwise), what about the
Danelectro unit? Any good.
(Should Dano or Jim from the Nebulas read this, how is delay/tape delay
used in The Nebulas?)
Thanks,
Jerry S.
