RE: [SurfGuitar101] Stupid Amp Qestion

Jerry (whipeoutboy63) - 17 Apr 2003 00:53:22

Hi Ryan,
My expierience with the Holy grail was that it worked best on the amps
low input, since then there is less gain on the channel and so more
clean sound. However the Holy Grail did sound o.k. as well on the High
(gain) channel. It is all a matter of taste. The I set every knob on 5
(treble Bass mid) and then work it until you got the best sound.
Try as much possibilities and settings. I'm sure you will find the best.
Did you try to use the amps FX loop? If so what was the result when used
with the Holy grail?
I'm juist asking because our 2nd guitarist uses a simelar set up as you,
and he now uses the clean channel, but I find that the Holy grail
doesn't produce enough "verb" on higher volume settings.
Normally I wouldn't use reverb on reverb, since then the sound gets a
bit "dirty" but it seams to work with the holy grail to get some kind of
echo reverb effect.
Although I don't get it wet enough on his amp. (It did get wet on my amp
however)
Maeby I ought to mess around with it as well.
Jerry

Subject: [SurfGuitar101] Stupid Amp Qestion
I went out and got a Holy Grail pedal, and have been messing around
with it all afternoon.
Just one question though. On the front of my amp there are two plug
ins, one right above the other. Below the bottom one it says "input"
and then above it it says "Low" and then above the other one it
says "High".
What is the difference between these inputs?
On the back there is a "reverb" plug in and a "distortion" plug in,
as well as a line and a phones plug in.
Right now I have the guitar going to the input on the holy grail,
which in turn is plugged into the "reverb" plug in. I then have a
cable from the lower input plug on the front of the amp, going to the
line plug in in the back of the amp.
Is this "correct"?
