Re: Closed back - Why?

Gavin Ehringer (windanseabeachboy) - 04 Apr 2003 09:17:26

This discussion raises and interesting question, one I look forward to
Brian beginning to answer: how do Fender's Modern Tube Amps (i.e. the
Hot Rods, not the reissues) stack up against the vintage amps?
I use a very nice, lightly modified HRDlx...it's very "spiky" on the
treble end and is a little harsh sounding and classic-rock sounding,
to my ears. Not to say this is bad, but I wonder if I'd be happier
replacing it with a vintage amp, a Fender reissue, or some boutique
amp clone of the early Fender tube amp designs that I have yet to
discover, i.e. a Holland, Victoria, etc. Or if I should just buy a Line 6!
Well, it's just something that has been on my mind.

See this post in context.
