Re: [SurfGuitar101] Deciding b/t HRDeluxe and Twin Reverb

-=Dan Ware=- - 26 Mar 2003 22:12:48

Hot Rod Deluxe vs. a Twin Reverb?
That's like Pee Wee Herman vs. The Rock.
I second Jim's motion. Save your money. A slightly used reissue Twin will
run you 700-1000. Anything thats going for less than 700 is a little more
used than "slightly".
Let me ask you this: what do you want to use the amp for?
-If you want to play out in a live setting with a full band, then the TR is
basically par for the course.
-If it's playing in a basement or sideroom without a full band, the TR is
overkill.
If it's at home, I can save you a ton of money and recommend the Vox
Cambridge 30 Twin. Extremely versatile tube amp with a really impressive
onboard reverb, decent vibrato and definitely has the sack to scare the cat
out of the room.
So back to my first question: whattya wanna use the amp for?
