I don't play in a band any longer, but I've always used Rotosound
stainless steel roundwound on my '75 Ric 4001.
What do you all use to clean your strings? I keep a Visine bottle
full of Graves 190 grain alcohol in my bass case. It really works
well for getting the grit out from between the windings. Once the
strings are dead, I boil them; makes them like new again.
