A couple years ago I was planning to build one - there are a number
of cool Internet sites with plans & schematics. I think you can
easily do it with basic electronics/soldering skills.
This place has a nice looking kit for under US$100 . . .

If you want, you can even build a tube theramin (ooooh!) . . .
I acquired most of the parts, but never built the thing - you may
