Hey...Happy Holidays everyone!
Today I walked into a small music store about an hour from
where I live. The last time I was there they had a pretty poor
selection of stuff (the usual Peavy/Crate run of the mill junk).
Today they had:
1967 Showman Head (Black Face)
70's ? Bandmaster Head
1965 Fender Reverb Unit
70's ? Fender Musicmaster Guitar
60's ? Bassman Head (Black Face)
A little Fender Bronco amp (Silver Face) all tube
Some kind of Gibson Amp, late 50's if you can believe the
salesman. It looked like it had the original tubes in it too.
I didn't walk out with anything but was sure stunned. It was
particularly hard to resist the Showman head. It was slightly beat
up but I was born in 1967 too :)
I might have to go back there sometime.....if only they had a
matching cabinet.
You don't see this kind of stuff everyday in Iowa :)
They also had this crazy looking brand new Peavy head/cabinet
apparently designed by a Zappa (which one they didn't say). The
controls looked like speedometers and stuff from a vintage car.
Other controls were a switch w/2 positions (loose/tight), a bank
of slider switches that were not numbered or otherwise labeled,
but went from "less" to "more", and other humorous dials and
gauges. Nothing was labeled in any kind of standard amp
fashion.
I hope everyone has a surfy New Year.
