The Fuzzrite is a classic sound.

Being an old timer, I had both the Gibson Maestro Fuzz Tone and the
Fuzzrite (bought it when I was in college for $35 with the money my
parents sent me for food, so I ate cereal for 2 weeks, but you know how
that goes ;-) ). Anyway I found the Fuzzrite to be far superior. You
can buy a new clone call the Fuzzbrite here: I've also seen the
schematic around on the web. Not hard to make.
