Aren't cover tunes pretty much status quo (a tradition even) for surf bands?
Even back in surf's heyday of the early 60s, didn't just about everyone
cover each others tunes, ever recording them, pretty regularly? As is pointed
out
above, even bands at the top of their game do a cover every now and then.
