Guitar Player is on a roll. In this issue (McCartney on the cover, Nov
2005) the Rants and Raves section has a blurb about Deke's Guitar Geek
DVD. This DVD features his Ventures tribute band Venturesmania, which
has Deke & Garret (Ghastly Ones) on guitars, Pete Curry (Los Straits,
Halibuts, Jon & The Nightriders, etc) on bass, and Deke's drummer
(sorry forgot his name) performing songs from the infamous Live in
Japan '65 album. Using blonde Showmen, *no* reverb, and all Mosrite
guitars. I've seen it...it's very cool.
The DVD also features a lot of crazy country finger pickin' stuff,
Speedy West/Jimmy Bryant tributes, etc., if you are into that as well.
(I'm not but it was interesting to watch at least once...it's like
watching a movie in a foreign language).
