Re: [SurfGuitar101] More Reverb Questions...

-=Dan Ware=- - 11 Dec 2002 23:19:27

Hey Gavin,
Give 6-6-6 a try and see what you think, but make sure any and all
ONBOARD reverb is turned off. A reverb tank through onboard reverb has a
mushing effect which removes the "drip" and makes it more of a "warble".
Also, try keeping your reverb tank NEXT to your amp, and not in front of it.
If you're already doing that, then the only explanation for the sproingy
sounds would be something like you're standing on a "soft" floor which has
some flex to it and you're jumping around or something.
As for changing your tube...you're on the right track, but without the
cap change too, you're not really seeing the effect. The theory (if I
remember correctly) is that the cap delivers LESS power to the NOS tube,
which has a lower power rating, and without the cap change, your dumping a
lot more power on the NOS tube than it was rated for.
I used to know the theory perfectly, but it's been a while.
