Phl,
I am sure there are many of us who, very sad at the news of your departure from
KFJC, are hoping that at this relatively early age, you won't get along real
well with "retirement" and may have second thoughts about continuing to play a
role in the International Curf Music Community.
For 25 years, your activities on behalf of surf music, have defined yout
identity. This has not been a Gray Flannel J.O.B. that you look forward to
retiring and moving to Miami! This has been your calling, your mission, your
unique contribution, and you've done an awesome amount of positive good where
there was only the vacuous toxicity of "Mainstream Pop Music" before you came
along.
So, I'm sure I'm far from the only one hoping you get so bored with "retirement"
that you'll be back very soon! Stay well; You're needed!

Thanks for the kind words Phil. It was surely my pleasure to host you
guys.
As to your question, I expect surf will virtually dissapear from KFJC's
airwaves. There isn't a dedicated party to take the challenge on. Time
will tell, though.
9/24 is the final show.

This is shocking and sad news. I, for one, am going to miss him on
Saturday nights (actually, Sundays. I record the show and listen to it
later.)
I'm lucky to have gotten to meet Mr. Dirt and play on the show in 2002
and I also wonder what the future of surf on KFJC will be.
I uploaded an Mp3 of the announcement so you can hear it in his own
words. I'll remove the file if it's a problem.
