That's true Klas, there are more ways than one to listen to a tune. I'll have to
listen to Dick's "Summertime Blues" with dementia in mind. I'm surprised you
don't find Dick's new "low growl" vocals as demented. I like 'em as much as the
early vocals.

I just spun the Ciro's version and it's great! In fact, it's so good
that I had to play it 3 times in a row! And no, I'm not kidding :-)
Great voice, awesome reverb drenched lead/rhythm guitar and I
actually think the dementia of the repeated verse adds to the
greatness of his version. Thanks for pointing that out, I hadn't
noticed it before!
As for DD's high thoughts about himself, howabout this line from the
song "Surfing":
"Well, Beach Boys and Jan & Dean got nothing on me, because I'm Dick
Dale and you know I wail when I take my board to the sea" (or
something similar).
But maybe he's singing about surfing abilities and not singing
ditto :-D That said, I think DD had a great rock'n'roll voice (in the
50's and 60's that is...).
And I agree with Ivan (!) (we never agree on DD's vocals) that
someone should tell DD to stop singing in his current live shows (As
far as I'm concerned, someone should also tell him to stop playing...)
