Re: [SurfGuitar101] Re: A Swingin' Affair

Here's the bottom line on Dick Dale's film appearances for anyone still
interested....
He was in four Hollywood films in the early 60s. The first two were "Let's
Make Love" (1960) with Marilyn Monroe, and the second was "A Swingin'
Affair" (1963). In the former, he was on screen for less than 30 seconds,
playing the part of an Elvis lookalike singer auditioning for a Broadway
play. The guitar he's slinging in this clip is NOT his Strat. It's a pawn
shop, custom special which is now on display at the Huntington Beach Int'l
Surfing Museum.
"A Swingin' Affair" included his full band "lip syncing" their way through
"Misirlou" and two versions of the title song, one a vocal and the other an
instrumental. These two tracks remain unreleased as do about 2 dozen
recordings he's made since 1970, some for an unreleased RCA album that Gary
Usher produced and others for the two beach party films.
