Re: [SurfGuitar101] fender reverb unit issue

Marty Tippens (mctippens) - 29 Jul 2005 12:06:03

If you've already released the spring damper and it isn't giving enough 'verb:
1. Take off the front panel.
2. Make sure the RCA's are connected to the spring tray.
3. Make sure both springs are connected and vibrating freely.
4. Slap it back together and listen see if the depth of reverb hasn't returned.
I did this process, found nothing wrong yet when I slapped it back together I
musta done something right 'cause the full reverb had returned. I'm thinking a
spring was cause on the felt pad.

I just took delivery of a reissue 'verb I bought on ebay... it is
really clean and has obviously been well treated. However, on
plugging it in, I can barely hear the reverb even with all the knobs
turned to 10. It is *just* there.
The unit was well packed but had obviously been thrown about by UPS:
the naked valve had fallen out of its socket and the tank had fallen
off its springs. Nothing appeared to be damaged and I put it all back
together but obviously there's the possibility that something is out
of whack now.
What are the obvious things to check?
