Waiting on Ebay for a Japanese Ventures Model Mosrite is good BUT you need to
have Ebay contact you when the Japanese Mosrite auction appears (This is done
first by performing the search and then clicking on the "add to favorites"
option). Then email the seller immediatly if you are interested because the
auction will be gone within the day. The Ventures organization has been very
quick to get Ebay auctions for the Japanese Ventures Model Mosrites removed.
They own the copyright. The Japanese models were grey market and never had the
right to put "Ventures" on the headstock.
If you email www.zamminc.com , they will tell you that they can order the
Excellent or the Super Custom or the '63 Royal, but they can't sell 'em with
Ventures logo's.
The Excellent, Super Custom and Royal '63 are extremely well made and have THE
Mosrite sound.

Patrick, I like your breakdown. Maybe waiting on Ebay is the best
idea. I remember our first drummer was also a Mosrite nut and he
had an Excellent '65 which he got for around 800 bucks in the mid
90s. Which at the time seemed like a lot for a Japanese reissue.
That being said it did play better than 99% of the vintage Mosrites
I've played. I've thought about doing a modded Dillion, but I know
personally I won't be satisfied.
In the mean time...I try to remember how difficult that neck was in
hopes of extinguishing my desire for one.
