Re: Mosrite Dealers

Patrick (reverb_10000) - 27 Jul 2005 12:11:18

There was a company called zamminc.com that had Japanese Mosrites in
the $13-1400 range at one point, although the only one I see left
for sale is a red Ramones model.
I've been going through Mosrite GAS for about a year now, and I have
no intention of going through Roman, either, if based on nothing
else than that I've yet to see someone post a positive experience
dealing with those folks. That aside - I've relegated myself to:
a) eBay (alot of times, if you're into the "project guitar" think,
you can peicemeal one, bit by bit, or on a rare occasion, find a
reasonable Japanese remake),
b) a good, yet cheap, copy, then upgrade parts/pups/etc - when I 1st
came to the board, there was a member who mentioned grabbing one of
the Dillion Mosrite copies, ditching the Bigsby, and throwing on a
roller bridge and a Tym Vibramute (which you can now get from
Hallmark, domestically, for like $130 for a chrome version of their
Vibramute - not bad), which brings me to...
c) a Hallmark Sweptwing (that is to say, for the tone, not the
looks, although I think they look bitchin' too).
Good luck...a Mosrite is a thing of beauty.
