Just want to mention that a really, really cheap way to go is to try tuning
your strings
down. Any lower than C on my Jazzmaster gets too flappy to be useful, but for
C and up, it
gets a wonderful deep throat tone.
Also, I really love it when guys play a solo on the low E just by twisting the
tuning peg--
