As a resident of the SF bay area and thus a beneficiary of Ferenc's
good works, I want to
add my appreciation to this thread. He's had his hand in almost all
the great surf music
gigs I've seen this past year. I think he's being modest when he says
he is only doing what
any one can do. One has to know the bands, know club owners, have the
credibility that
comes with being in their own (in this case especially) top notch
band, and the most
importantly, willing to commit the time and energy that's left over
from one's own artistic
pursuits. Considering how hard it is just to get by financially here
in the Bay Area, it's even
more impressive when someone can devote so much free time to
furthering the good
cause of Surf music - to all our benefit. Ferenc - you're a real
inspiration! Keep it up.
As for Eddie and the Showman - I just recently picked up the Squad
Car CD from
musicstack.com - for $12. That's a website that numerous small record
stores post their
inventory, not unlike the used section of Amazon. It's hit or miss,
but that time I hit big.
Since it's out of print, I think I can make the offer to trade copies
of this CD with anyone
out there who'd like a copy. I don't have any of the comps or CD's
listed in the recent
thread about 60's music, so if you want to trade CDR's, contact me
off list and we'll swap.
