I could care less if Dick Dale invented surf. I like his earlier stuff
but just because he was the first is no reason to elevate him to god
status. Slacktone is quite different from Dick Dale. Sure they
wouldn't sound the same without Dick but they don't rip stuff off of
Dick. Slacktone's version of Misirlou is quite different. Note all the
extra chords dave throws in. Play Dick's version back to back with theirs.
Dick's ego and attitude come from the wrong place in this case.

apart from the open-string stuff intro, IMHO it's pretty much Dick's
version, not exactly, but close enough. Even the glissandos seem to be
in the same spots as Dick's version.
