Yes..I grew up with it in San Diego..Pacific Beach, P.B. Point, and
the various breaks around La Jolla...used to take road trips to
Trestles, Rincon and (oh yes) Baja California...man I miss it.
(once one...always one.)
Boards: All Skip Frye pins and one square tail (shortest was 8'8") a
couple had Bradley Buben "color jobs". The exceptions to these
shortboards ;) were a couple of long boards..one was an old Carl
Eckstrom squaretail..and an older Skip Frye longboard..about 9'6".
I always wanted a triple stringer G&S Mike Hynson model..complete
with red fin..anybody remember these? ;O) I imagine they're getting
hard to find these days.
I've been land locked for a few yrs in the mtns..but home is calling
me very strongly, especially as of late (not to mention it's also
reaallllly hard to find folks to play surf music with in my neck of
the woods too..heheh). As far as nationally known bands..Los
Staitjackets are probably the closest we have here regionally..it
sure would be nice to be able to see guys like the
Eliminators/Slacktone/etc with some sort of frequency to be sure.
