The formula for surf is as follows (single coil pickups + Fender
reverb tank + Fender amp A, B, or C)
A = Dual Showman
B = Showman
C = Bandmaster
IMO as long as any guitar has SINGLE COIL pickups it should work for
surf. Zak Izbinsky of the Treblemakers used a Gretsch Tennesean
with Hilo-tron pickups. So did one of the guys in the Sentinels back
in the 60s.
