Re: Tab

surfbandbill - 22 Sep 2002 04:52:36

Since I am truly lazy, yet end up tabbing out nearly every tune I
write or figure out, I'll give a handy hint. As a tuba player and
jazz guitarist, I often had need for lined music paper much like
something tab would be found on, so I took the idea a step further.
Go to any local music store and pick up a book or pad of music
manuscript paper: it's pre-lined and everything. I always keep a few
loose sheets in my case, in addition to a spiral-bound notebook of
manuscript paper that houses all Lava Rats tunes. That way any time
inspiration strikes all I have to do is pull out a clean sheet and a
pencil, and I'm good to go. Also, it's a good way to keep charts
organized as a band's repertoire grows.
Generally, you can get like 100 sheets for somewhere around 4 bucks
or so in a notebook. It makes tabbing easy, and you don't have to go
nuts drawing all those lines just to get an idea or two down.
