Here here! Besides the vocals part (can you really get excited about
Mama's Gone Surfin'? Yikes! :), I'll wholeheartedly agree with Bill.
There are so many buried diamonds on those albums that many surf
music fans never heard, it's really sad. For example, Mexico is one
of DD's finest instros and it has never (officially) been released on
CD. Much of the Summer Surf album is freakin' awesome - never on
CD. Songs like "Star of David" and "Surfin' Rebel" are prime DD.
And some of those albums are going for astronomical prices today -
Summer Surf LP recently went on eBay for $135 or something! Thank
God I have it on tape. DD is a real pain with the whole "The last
thing I did was my best ever! Everyhing else sucks!" attitude. Well,
if the money is there maybe he'll change his mind eventually.
Surfer's Choice is coming out, isn't it? That'll be cool.
