Guyatone has a reverb box that is all-tube and looks to be a worthy contender
for the title of heavyweight reverb champion del mundo. It sells for about $450,
roughly
$50 bucks more than street price of the Fender '63 Reverb Reissue, but has
several
features that seem worth the extra dough: namely, it comes with NOS 6K6, 5751
(12AX7),
and 12AT7 tubes, and it has five pots to control tone, instead of the three pots
on the
Fender reverbs. Pots are: bass, treble, level (mix), master volume, and reverb
(dwell).
I have now owned two Fender reissue tanks, and both seemed too trebly to me. I
am seriously thinking of trying one of these Guyatones, but I hate to be the
guinea
pig. I will make the sacrifice, if need be, but wonder if anyone on the list has
one of
these boxes and wants to venture their opinion.
