Chas Stewart of the Belairs originated the sax
mouthpiece and reed siren as I recall, and that was
carried forward to Eddie and the Showmen when Eddie
Bertrand left the Belairs. When Paul Johnson
re-recorded "Squad Car" in 1980 with the Packards, a
local cop was called in, and he agreed to sound his
siren for them to record. I suppose a sample would be
an easy solution.
John Kohlman (Shockwaves rhythm guitarist) was the
first one I know of to do it on guitar. Instead of a
slide, he simulated the Euro siren two-note warble on
guitar in lieu of the usual siren sound around 1988.
It was a brilliant move on his part, and very
effective, and the fans seemed to like it a lot.

Does anybody here who plays Squad Car live do a siren
noise? And if so
how do you do it. We have added it to our set and I
wish to have the
siren sound for full effect.
